Shauna and I went to two places today: Royal Albert Hall and Harrod’s. I still managed to walk 10,598 steps or 4.47 miles. It was a windy and sunny day, perfect for walking. We have tickets for a concert at RAH on Wednesday evening and wanted to do a trial walk. Very pleasant.
And then there was Harrod’s. I started on the 6th floor and worked my way down, marveled at the Egyptian themed escalators, lingered in the Halcyon Gallery and in Home Fragrance(!) The Halcyon Gallery had 6 coffee table books filled with every drawing Bob Dylan ever made, a vanity project, at best. He is a better writer. There were other painters represented, Picasso, Jean Miro, and some lesser known artists. It was kind of ho hum. The Home Fragrance area was huge, I was mildly interested because I’m still looking for the orange blossom lavender combination that reminds me of Morocco. Home appliance wing was fun, as was dishware, including Ginori, my grandmother’s favorite, what else, clothing, shoes, leather goods, jewelry, computers, etc, it was alll too much. Bottom line, Harrod’s selection and prices cater to the 1% Happy to say that I have been there once. I have no desire to go back.
